Jesus - Our Burden-Bearer

As I was praying for needs in people's lives, the other day, the Lord reminded me of the scripture, "The sufferings of this present world are not worthy to be compared to the glory that will be revealed in us" (Romans 8:18).

The fact is, being a believer does not exempt you from facing difficulties in life. I have learned that 'the hard way' myself.

I once blew my back out, and suffered terribly with the pain and limited mobility for almost a year. Here's the important point I want to make: during that year, the Lord made it abundantly clear to me, that there was something deeper and greater that He was trying to work in me, inside my spiritual man, than just proving that He could heal me, or relieve my pain by bringing instantaneous relief.

One day, while scheduling surgery for my back, the Lord miraculously healed it - but the deeper/ greater work He accomplished inside of me - was the greater miracles in every way! I learned to trust Him in the difficult times, I learned to worship Him for who He is, not just what He can do, and yes - though I hate to admit it (smile) - I learned patience (to a degree)

The same miracle was worked in the lives of Mary, Martha and Lazarus. Though they endured four days of extreme pain - in the end, Jesus revealed His greater glory unto them (and to the whole world) in a much greater way than if He simply sent the healing word prior to Lazarus' death.

If you are facing a difficult moment in your life today, and are wondering why He doesn't make it immediately better - this encouragement is for you. Building you into the kind of person He wants you to become - is far more important for you (and to Him) - than the simple relief He could instantaneously provide you. Remember, the lessons we learn in the moments when we are 'being pressed on every side' are more enduring, and have greater results, than being immediately relieved of the temporary discomfort, or frustration we experience in them.

Be encouraged this morning - though your trial may seem hard for the moment - if you find Christ's purpose in it - and He accomplishes something eternally worthwhile in you - it is worth it all! Be blessed, as you seek Jesus, and His fulfillment in whatever you are going through today! And never forget - Jesus is Lord of all - always!
