Living for God matters. No matter what people might say to the contrary, living holy lives pleases God, and results in His blessings upon your life, your family, and your nation. Proverbs 14:34 proves the validity of this statement: "Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people." In this verse, we easily see the power of righteous living!
Sin is always worth fighting, because giving into it will bring ruination to everything it touches now, and for all time. One verse from the Bible highlights the stark contrast between a life dominated by sin vs. a life lived in righteousness before God.
In Romans 6:23, Paul wrote this truth: "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." So let's be clear on this issue: We must fight against sin at all costs, and for all time. And no matter what that battle will require of you, the results are worth it.
But does fighting against sin make any difference? Can we really win against this insistent force? Yes, we can win, and we will, if we learn to fight the right way, and stay committed to fighting against sin every day, for all our days.
Here's the bottom line about fighting against the temptation of sin: just because you feel the tug of sin upon your life, doesn't mean you are powerless to stop it from dominating you.
Fact: Everyone on earth is tempted by sin, but that does not give you an excuse to surrender to it. Even Jesus was tempted in the wilderness, but here is the one key element of His temptation, that people often overlook, while making excuses for their morale failures: "Jesus was tempted, the same as we are, yet without sin." (Heb. 4:15) It is important to note, that Jesus never gave into temptation. And neither should we. If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior, then you have power over sin.
1 John 4:4 states this truth clearly, "You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world." So fight the good fight against sin - make no excuses for it, don't give sin an inch - or it will steal your heart.
And last of all, don't get weary in the battle, and give up. Remember this: Every battle you win is valuable, and sets you up for even more victories on your journey, because you are learning to win the war for your soul. So fight on, be brave, and stay true. The results are worth it - because righteous living matters to God, and changes everything!
